I've been curious about Jimmy's for a while. My wife and I checked it out the other day. I've had better. The spinach pie was dry and not well balanced (too much phyllo). My baby Greek sald was OK but nothing special. My wife's French Onion soup was salty, tasting as if it were on bouillon cube steroids. Even the sauce on the rice did not have the right punch that Greek rice should have. I really wanted to like Jimmy's (it's not far from my house) but there was just too much wrong for me to go back. "I owe you a dinner," I said to my wife as we left.

My husband and I have toured the local Coney Island circuit for hangover weekend mornings since moving to Troy a couple years ago. After going to many coney's we ended at Jimmy's Coney Grill and we have been happily enjoying their greasy hangover-curing food since. The food is standard coney fair, however my husband is thrilled by the fact that they have home-fry style hashbrowns rather than the standard shredded hashbrowns you find most places. I usually get their omelet which is a lot of food for a great cost ($4.50). In addition, their delivery and carry out is a win on weekends when we don't want to leave our house. I would classify the service as standard coney, nothing special. If you want to be checked in on frequently, this place may get on your nerves. But whenever we have asked for help the staff has been quick to reply, otherwise they leave you alone-which we appreciate when hungover on a Sunday morning. Oh, and don't forget your Saganaki, Opa!

I'm definitely a fan of Jimnd my's. We've been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. We mostly go on Monday nights for .99 coneys but we usually wind up getting drinks and fries too. We've had breakfast there as well and it's always been very good. Service is always exceptional!

Cheap place, but they couldn't cook!

I love Jimmy's, especially for breakfast. My family and I go here frequently and always enjoy our meals and the price is excellent. Service is always top notch. I recommend the homemade hash, it is actually homemade...not just called that because they opened the can on site.

I have eaten at Jimmy"s on numerous occasions. It is relatively close to my home, good food, good service, nothing special but a good choice when out and about running errands and looking for a quick bite to eat. This evening, not feeling much like cooking after making the monthly trip to Cosco we made a stop to grab a few of the Monday night 99 cent coney dogs. The coneys were tasty, however what a surprise when we got the bill. Oddly as it may seem, we enjoy relish on our coneys and always request it when ordering coneys at Kirby, National, A & W, you name it. Well, Jimmy's actually charged 50 cents (without telling us the "upcharge" in advance at the time we ordered) per coney for the relish!! Yes, 99 cent coney plus 50 cents for the relish...what a deal! Funny thing, the bill showed the relish with the price of 00.00 but they had added the 50 cents onto the price of each coney. Almost as though they knew how absurd it would look to charge 50 cents for relish (or any amount for that matter). I have never in my life been charged anything for relish and how ridiculous to charge 99 cents for the whole darn coney and add 50 cents for the condiment. Jimmy's, next time I'm in the mood for a coney (with relish) I will drive the extra block or two to one of the other numerous coneys in the area. As I said before, you're really nothing special.

My interest was piqued after reading Steven B's review. Chrysler voted Jimmys Coney Grill as having "Best Sliders"? No clue who exactly the competition was in that poll but I'd say I trust the good working people of Chrysler to steer me in the right direction when it comes to sliders. Once again, no clue who exactly the competition was, but after trying them for myself... the sliders at Jimmys are pretty good, if not amazing. Truthfully, they remind me of the sliders I'd whip up at home on a George Foreman grill. This is not a bad thing as I do enjoy those sliders. The meat seems like high quality freshly ground beef (angus round?) and it is formed into small patties that aren't exactly thick but are thicker than what you expect to get from a local "white hut" slider shop. The meat also came out perfectly medium in one of my sliders and slightly medium rare in the other... as opposed to the usual super well done burnt/crispy/greasy that you'd get from a typical slider shop. The flavor in the burger at Jimmys came from the quality and natural juiciness of the meat rather than from the ancient seasoned griddle they pressed it into (or I should say that they did NOT press it into). I'm not saying I prefer one way or the other... they both have their charms. But Jimmys does a very decent slider. I wasn't terribly impressed by the slide of American cheese they added to it (at my request). And the bun was just ok. But the crinkled dill pickle slices were crisp and fresh and flavorful, the onions were properly burnt (if too thin and not plentiful enough for my liking), and the meat patty was truly the star. The fries that came with my sliders were not great. They tasted like slightly freezer-burned and undercooked McDonald's-style fries. Not sure I'd order them again, or if I did I'd have them covered in chili or something to mask their mediocrity. I'd like to come back here and try a few other items off the menu. Breakfast sounds good. And some of what I saw on the specials board looked intriguing and well thought out. Will definitely be back!

Great local coney for school fundraisers

I come here for the corn beef hash. Order it, eat it, love it, share it, tell your friends about it! I've had the money special 99 coneys, They aren't bad. I like others better as I never find my bun steamed, and the onions cut too large. I've eaten breakfast here so much, I just love it. Did I mention the hash? Honestly I tend to be more at length in reviews, and cover a lot but this place is just simple. It's tiny, it's small, it's usually slow (patron wise, not food service wise, service rocks), and I dig it! It's just the normal unsuspecting not national not Kerby, Coney, and that's awesome in my book! If you are in the area, give this gem a shot for at least breakfast before running to one of the big league coneys.

This is a great little neighborhood place for a quick bite. The food is always fresh and tasty. But their feature is their delivery service. On the day when you're to busy to cook you can get anything from breakfast to salads to burgers an coney's delivered quick an hot. Great place

Chelsa is a total sweetheart, the food is good and (most of) made in house! Portions are large and if you haven't had the cinnamon roll French toast you're missing out!!

I fell in love with the spicy chicken stir fry months ago, and it's the only thing I order. I live nowhere near Jimmys and would sometimes stop on my way to work. Twice a month I drove out of the way on Saturdays to grab my spicy chicken stir fry. On two occasions upon arriving home my order was wrong, I let it go. It was stir fry, but not spicy. Today the same thing has happened but I decided to call and say something to which my intelligence was insulted by telling me I didn't say spicy. The young lady said my name and repeated my order; 'spicy chicken stir fry.' The person on the phone said 'she must have hit the wrong button. There wasn't an apology. I won't be back. I gave Jimmys three stars because the stir fry is deelish!

Yes indeed I am a fan. It's cheap and the service is great. Oh, what a vast menu! I started with some flaming cheese. Opa! This is just as good as any Greek place in Greektown. You get a large slab of cheese that is set ablaze right before your eyes by a skillful server. It's only about $4.99 too. The spinach pie is about the same price and while it is good, it isn't my favorite spinach pie compared to others. It is a tad greasy and not as crisp 9maybe microwaved?). The fish and chips (skinny fries) are very satisfying and very filling. If I lived nearby, I'd be here for breakfast all the time. Bacon and eggs for $1.99?! Yes! I think it was the owner that bid us farewell from the kitchen and asked us how we enjoyed our meal. Very much, Sir. Very much.

"Very good lemon rice soup." I have not tasted Lemon rice soup this good.

I've only been here once but haven't had a chance to go back. The food and the service was good. I would go back again.

So much better than National Coney! HUGE menu, GREAT food, REASONABLE prices, and BIG portions! How could you go wrong? Service and atmosphere is excellent eating in. Carry-out is fast considering it's fresh and delivery is worth it on busy nights! If you're in the area, forget National and try Jimmy's instead.

So we've been living here almost two years and haven't hit a Coney joint yet, although I have a ton of them bookmarked. We couldn't decide on one, so just picked Jimmy's because they had a restaurant.com coupon (and it was close to home). And I have to admit it wasn't exactly what I was expecting, though not in a bad way. It was your basic diner that happened to serve a handful of Coney options...and a crap ton of other stuff. Seriously, the menu was HUGE and VARIED--which is both good and bad because you want to order everything! Since we had to spend $20 and it was just the two of us--and most dishes are about $6--we had to order quite a bit. (We should have waited and taken our parents or something, but it gave us a chance to test out a bunch of the menu.) We got cheese fries, onion rings, and a Coney for apps--and Hubby got a gyro with onion soup and I got fish and chips with cole slaw. We got the soup and slaw first, then unfortunately everything else came out at the same time. Not a big deal, but it should have been split up a bit. So how was the food? On Yelp's scale, definitely A-OK. The slaw and soup were pretty good. The cheese fries had the liquid cheese (that I love) on them, but they were fairly bland. The onion rings were hot and crispy, but nothing to write home about. The Coney was a big let down--very bland and meh (well, the raw onions were zingy!). The fish was crispy and somewhat tasty, but again nothing to get excited about. The gyro was actually pretty good (and a huge portion). Overall, it was decent food (though too much food at once, and we really should have saved the coupon for a time when we had more people) but nothing I'd rush to eat again. Our server was nice and efficient, though we wondered how a table that was seated after us and ordered after us...got served before us. With all the other places I have bookmarked, we probably won't end up here again, though I can see taking my fussy-eater dad here as there would HAVE to be something he would eat...and there were some other things I'd like to try. On a sidenote, they do have delivery--which I was excited about since we live pretty close. Until I looked at the delivery-area map on the wall and saw that they don't have a circular-type radius like most places, but rather it looked like the only delivered east of Dequindre, so I would be out of luck. (I could ask, I guess, but my address was most definitely NOT on the map.) Just a bit odd that they would go father north and east, but not cross over Dequindre? No stars deducted for that, however.

A big factor of why I rated this 4 stars is because I live right around the corner from it. It's nice that they serve breakfast all day, so you can order whatever you want if it's 5:30 and you're feelin' like breakfast. They have a special called Cinnamon French Toast. It is very delicious! Their coneys are good and Chrysler gave them an award for best sliders. Their food is very good and the prices are great!
